Better bands than they typically have IMO

People don't go to live after five solely for the music. People go to be social. I'm not saying that non cover bands can work in that, but cover bands probably suit it better. It's more background music.
BR loves it's mediocrity...it's not background music, they genuinely enjoy Molly Ringwalds and Chee Wees. Same folks that stroke their cocks to the Shitstain Stompers

BR for the most part is a culturally uber religious super conservative city.

Just like Jackson, MS
A town full of God fearing, gay hating, cover band aficionados. And the varsity is their church

I just think there's a large contingent of people in BR that see concerts as a place to be rather than caring about the quality of music. they don't want to be challenged, they want familiarity and want to sing along to songs they know.
I think the varsity has done a lot better in the last 3 years than they have in the past in bringing different acts to BR than in years past. The cover bands will still be booked to keep the lights on.

People from Louisiana are afraid of change. That's why they have the highest number of residents that retire and die where they are from.

Instead of "keep Austin weird" BR's slogan could be "keep BR status quo"
