They were southern rock but they were different southern rock from the Allmans and Skynard. Those two were Georgia/Florida southern rock. A mash up of about two thirds blues and one third country. Feat were New Orleans southern rock where funk was a more significant ingredient than country (Willin' excepted). They had a lot more influence from groups like The Meters than your traditional southern rock band. There were a lot of bands trying to follow in the footsteps of Skynard and the Allman Brothers (Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Marshall Tucker, etc.). No one was trying to follow in the footsteps of Little Feat. Those feet were traveling over tougher terrain to follow.
