Not comparable to the club bangers that dominate Tigerland... Get Lucky is 10x better

Maybe better but the new daft punk album is still crap. You can put a dress on a pig, but it's still a pig.

I like it, but its completely different from any of their other stuff, so i look at this part of their career as them being a completely different band, so that way i dont get annoyed.

i love funky music, so it all works for me

Just finished a few minutes ago:

3,6,7,12,and 13 were my favorites

I finally gave it a hard listen and besides the slow songs (#s 2, 4 & 5) I really liked it all (even the slow songs are ok - they track with many themes in the album).

I'm not a DP fanboy so I did not come into this with too many expectations.

First off, this album definitely a concept album both musically and lyrically. Musically, it explores a lot of the late 70's and early 80's music - disco, r&b, jazz, rock, synth pop, etc. Lyrically, it's pretty introverted and self-reflecting.

I loved the opening of #1 Give Live back to Music...it was almost like an electro rock opera opening with a step synth. I'm a complete sucker for guitar harmonies so the harmonized guitar lines really work with me...it's prevalent throughout the album and I think it's a great credit. The processed vocals sound great.

#3 Giorgio by Moroder seems to be an homage to all of the aforementioned music styles, with the musical icon as a guide. Pretty much a musical survey here if you will...all of the music styles incorporated here.

#6 Lose Yourself to Dance - Good dance anthem - eventually kicks in with a classic DP type refrain

#7 Touch switches from stacatto lines that are prevalent in the album to legato lines...much more touchy feely imo. I really love the lyricism of this song as well as the Isaac Hayes wah guitar rhythms...maybe some Tom Jones-type chorus. There's a breakdown through to the end of the song. LOVE THIS SONG.

#8 Get Lucky - Maybe it was all of the Jackson Five I was listening to last week, but this song screams Mickey J to me. Good guitar work and nice Rhodes keying in...love the classic DP kick-in later in the song.

#9 Beyond almost reminds me of Regulate by Warren G and Nate Dogg...it's a bit close.

#10 Motherboard seems like it is influenced by the Gorillaz (a la Plastic Beach)

#11 Fragments of Time uses a nice 70s R&B rhythm similar to Fleetwood Mac imo. More of the harmonic guitar riffing that I like.

#12 Doin' Right - the other song that has been sticking with me second to Get Lucky. I think these two will produce some of the best remixes

#13 Contact - love the electro rock feel and drum work here. Almost seems like this is new ground for DP (again I'm not a DP fanboy so it could be similar to some prior work I have not heard). It's almost like DP destroys their instruments at the end like true rockers.

I really like this album...I'm a big fan of the live instrument sound built here. I can understand why some fans may not like this if they were expecting some classic DP. However, I think this is just mostly raw material for the remixes that will come. It should be good.

Giorgio by Moroder
Lose Yourself to Dance
Get Lucky
Doin' It Right

Could listen to all 6 on repeat and never get bored. Can't wait to hear the remixes.

That song is absolutely terrible. I appreciate what they were trying to do, but God it's unlistenable.

Bumping to ask what you all think the next single will be?

Seems like the buzz has died on the album

And "Touch" is great. Takes a little while to get going.

I hope the new single is Doin It Right. Love that song. But my money is on Lose Yourself to Dance.
