Everyone else is mentioning a 4-year span for their high school years. You gave a 2-year span. Doogie Howser was a genius child doctor. Don't over think it.

We did freshman year (1979) in junior high, therefore my HS years were 80-82. Trust me, I'm no Doogie Howser. I'm flattered, however.

The only 10/10 years I can think of would have to include '73 or '78. I am shocked at how many of you gave your time that high of a score.

I guess it depends on how you define the "music of the time".

If it's just music released during that time span or the music available to listen to during that time.

80-83, the music produced during that time is a 6. But go back a few years from that and you’d hit a 10.

Fall 84 to Spring 88

6 out of 10

Rap was everywhere even white dudes.

Still a lot of European pop...not good

INXS, REM and U2

Hair bands GNR, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi; Poison

Seemed great then, I hear it now on XM and it doesn't carry for me.

However, the females in videos are so freaking smoking hot

Looked it up for grad year 1988 and "dont worry, be happy" was song of the year.....I would have never guessed that.

Thriller album was r.elased in 1982 and no songs from that album listed, kind of surprising.

That was massive for a LONG TIME.

Can’t argue with that. The rock, country and soul music were all at their peak in that time

We moved from disco to punk and new wave / New Romantic which was awesome. I still listen to Adam Ant. Hard rock made a resurgence with Van Halen, Boston, AC/DC, etc., which was even better. For me and my friends, that music was the right stuff at the right time.

Can’t be 10 out of 10 with disco involved but the rock and outlaw country were top shelf. I’d go 8-8.5 mainly because of disco
