Does anyone think that in the mid 60's a parent wouldn't know the whereabouts of a twelve year old for six weeks?

After recently reading Pamela Des Barres first book, I'd say that there were a lot of them running around in the 60s. She told several stories involving groupies and roadies and underage girls.
Not at all saying that this implicates Dylan. But it wasn't just Roman Polanski that was chasing 12 and 13 year old girls back then.
