The fall of the Soviet Union, a free concert was offered with Springsteen, Madonna, etc. They said no, we want to rock out. There were reports of a million people, maybe true maybe not, the Red Army was the security, all hell broke loose in the crowd, but as of fall 1991 the biggest band on the planet was playing in front of Moscow

The 80's & very early 90's will never ever happen again when it comes the enormity of shows like this. Threats of possible lawsuits due to general admission shows like this are the reason, particularly in the US. Europe & South America still have big general admission shows but nothing like this.

If anyone ever questions just how amazing a live act Metallica was during this time period just show them this & the 1989 Seattle show that was filmed. They were just on another level than everyone else & so far ahead of what the competition was doing. They were mind blowing.

The Moscow Music Peace Festival that happened 2 years before was awesome as well. Skid Row, Scorpions, Crue, etc.

I'll take this lineup with AC/DC, Metallica, and Pantera over the older one any day.
