just wanted to get out there and let the people know a new group has taken the title. after the absolute destruction of the Joy Theater this weekend i am now a true believer. "I" "got" "IT".
if you are not aware of JRAD and the music they play you should take the time to educate yourself

While I think that JRAD are amazing and would probably go see them before I'd go see Phish right now... I'm not sure that a cover band can really represent a paradigm shift.
Definitely Tier 1 Cover Band, though.

sure they cover GD songs but thats such a small part of it
the amount of actual GD material to original improv was like 30-70
they're at mid 90s Phish level with some of the stuff they're putting out there on stage right now. it's truly fricking impressive.

The cover band argument is so dumb and tired.
It comes down to the improv. And right now JRAD is the best at that. Period.

Regardless of who originally wrote the songs, there isn't a group producing better music right now than Hammy, Russo, Dreiwitz, Benevento, and Metzger.
They sound like they have been playing this show together for 30 years. It really is remarkable.

When I saw them at Hulaween compared to Saturday night, they have improved tremendously. It also may have had something to do with them closing out the festival. But, they fricking brought it Saturday.
