Joe Bonamassa recommendations

Just listened to his live album at Beacon Theater, and holy frick. Dude can play. Any recommendations for studio CDs, or should I stick to the live stuff?

Everything. If you want a solid studio album with him at top of his game, I would recommend "Driving Towards the Daylight". (Brad Whitford of Aerosmith contributed some rhythm tracks on various parts of this album) There are alot of solid original songs on there and some great covers of Robert Johnson and Howlin' Wolf. I find it's the album that he's had his best guitar tone on as well, although ive never heard anything where Bonamassa had bad tone or anything other than great tone. "Black Rock" is a great all around album as well. Every album I own by him is a great listen start to finish. "Dust Bowl" is shipping to me as we speak from Amazon matter of fact. "Live from Royal Albert Hall" 2 Disc set is great as he touches on alot of his earlier work and Clapton plays on a song with him. If you like Bonamassa and dig Zeppelin type riffage, check out Black Country Communion. It's a super group comprised of Bonamassa on guitars, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple vocalist) on vocals and bass, Jason Bonham on drums, and Derek Shernian (Dream Theater) on Keys. Pretty awesome stuff. Theyve dropped 3 albums and are working on a fourth and final I believe. I would recommend BCC 2.

Easily one of the best guitarists out today. Unbelievable talent. I'd put he and Derek Trucks as the two best younger players. I mainly stick to his live stuff, because it's a preference. He does go crazy on albums as well and they are great, but the rawness and the improv he throws into his live stuff is more enjoyable for me.

I enjoy all of his stuff. Black Rock is the one that sticks out in my mind in terms of his studio albums.

Don't Explain is a studio album with Beth Hart. Has some really good tracks on it. Just saw him last weekend at The Ryman. Amazing show.

I really enjoyed the songs Beth sang with him on the Beacon Theater album, so I've been jamming to their live in Amsterdam album this morning. Good shite. Thanks both of you for that recommendation
