Musically, JAY-Z with quality and quantity over Kane.

Jay (without getting into guest appearances which he fricking dominates)
Brooklyn's Finest
Hard Knock Life
Big Pimpin
Can I get A
Encore
Lucifer
My First Song
What More Can I say
Moment of Clarity
The Takeover
Izzo
Izzo unplugged
The Blueprint 2 (song, not just album)
Beach Chair
Empire State of Mind
Young Forever
Run This Town

Kanye:
Last Call
Jesus Walks
Diamonds Are Forever
Diamonds from Sierra Leone
Stronger
Good Life
Homecoming
Can't Tell Me Nothing
All of the Lights
Power
ET Remix
Why I Love You
Otis

Personally, Jay-Z: bangs Beyonce, the Nets, sports guy, laid back, but successful businessman who manages to NOT piss off large amounts of people. Kanye hates white people, is a poser, giant douche, and fricks fish. Jay-Z by a land slide.

How are you gonna leave out:

Drive Slow
Blame Game
Dark Fantasy
Runaway
Make Her say (it's a cudi track in name only).

Jay-Z is definitely more of a life winner. I wasn't factoring that in.

Thats one song. "U Don't Know" is one of Hova's best songs and the beat (produced by Just Blaze) destroys anything Kanye has produced and is on the short list of greatest beats of all time.

I'm sorry, are we comparing Kanye and Just Blaze? I didn't get the memo.

If you're arguing that Biggie is the greatest lyricist of all time, then we can finally agree on something.

Yeah, that half percent share really counts as ownership. And he sold that, btw.

I lost a lot of respect with Jay-Z trying to act like he owned a legit part of the Net's, when i found out it was something like .03%, i was disappoint.

I like Jigga but just personally i've always liked southern rap waaaaaay more than any East coast rappers, and with Kanye i just like his style music, always dramatic with his production and he always gives you something, like when he invented the word "cray".

Just proving there are many producers that come ahead of Kanye in the "all time" category while Jay Z is at the very top of MCs.

personally think Jay-Z is overrated as a rapper.

I agree with Nas that Eminem destroyed him on Renegade.

this and i love Jay Z. although in fairness and imo both those guys are better lyricists than Jay Z. it's like saying magic johnson and larry bird are better than scottie pippen. well yeah.

that said i like kanye ok, but hovah is better.

I don't think there is an artist, ever, more overrated than Kanye West. He's decent and I casually like his stuff, but he is treated as if he is the second coming. The Pazz and Jop critic's poll, which is perhaps the best example of critical consensus, has name Kanye as the album of the year winner three times. Only Dylan has done, and that's because he got his two career achievement best ofs in the 90s and the 00s. Kanye did it in the span of 6 years.

Kanye could record himself taking a dump, and half of the critics in America would trip over themselves to declare it a masterpiece.

His production, while still good, is also overrated. He would be nothing without J Dilla.

that's because he's very good, easily the best rapper of the 2000s.
