I actually lean fiscally conservative, to be honest. That is why I distinctly called out Trump R's. Most of us conservatives are moderate and intelligent, it's our electorate that has their brain flying at half mast lately.

Where i think this one misses the mark is that i love his character development and i dont see it here. the story/characters dont initially jump out, but i have had that reaction a few times before with him and after further listens gotten the vision more clearly. there are definitely a few lines though that feel like he tried to shoehorn them in a bit at first listen-- if this is the overall theme of the album though, it may come into focus a bit more with time.
I'm cool with artists expressing themselves and having a message behind their work. That's not the entire reason I didn't care for this one.
The lyrics just felt forced with the music. The phrasing, the timing just all felt off to me. There's two guitars playing, both doing their own thing, along with the vocal melody and none of it just matches up. I dig the chorus, but mainly the first verse just doesn't flow at all for me.
I wasn't blown away by 24 frames when I first heard it, but I grew to love it. I'm sure that's how I will feel about this one.
Just glad that he's brought back the 400 unit. Live from alabama is one of my favorite albums.

I'm 100% trolling you dude. Listen or don't listen, it makes no shite to me. I just don't think it's a good look to get bent out of shape over a throwaway lyric in a song. DBT has always been a political band, it's only now that the "politics of division" have started pushing people away from their music because. "OMFG SJW blah blah blah".
American Band is a pretty good picture, imo of what's actually going on. Not just the circle jerk of opinions in LA, but more broadly in communities across America.

yea, i agree that a few spots seemed forced. and werent even that great in phrasing to justify forcing them into the song.
if we get off the political debate and into a writing discussion -- defining the perspective it is written from and who that person is speaking to in the song comes across clunky for me. i havent found much substance in the characters or in the story or even in the setting yet which is always his strength. i havent found that vivid image or insight in it.
i think that discussion about this song is more relevant than the politics. ill take his razor sharp writing about nearly any topic or stance -- but im not feeling that quality strongly here yet.
im still eager to hear the rest
