James Hetfield
Posted by Jalbow3

My wife and I flew out to Dallas last month for the shows and of course it was great, however I'm watching the video on YouTube that they were showing in the theaters and he's absolutely unreal. They have been my favorite band for a long time, but watching him play guitar at the level he does, while singing is amazing. I know the sound live wasn't that great considering the size of the venue, but the "movie" is worth watching.
ETA: The damned thing got a copyright strike or something I assume. It stopped about 30 minutes in.

I haven't watched them live in ages (two dates on the "Justice" tour, before that the "Puppets" tour opening for Ozzy). But waaay back then Hetfield was the absolute king of fast tempo down-stroke rhythm guitar back in the day.
Even when I was at the absolute top of my thrash rhythm playing game - and I was good at it - a lot of the old Metallica would leave my right forearm and wrist locking up halfway through songs, I simply couldn't keep up doing it.

It's crazy. After I restrung one this morning, I was messing around and said to my dog "that sounds like Creeping Death". After 45 seconds of the actual song, I remembered why he's got $300,000,000 and I'm talking to a dog in my basement. I don't know how he does it for 2 hours at a time.

Last time I saw them was Justice as well. And the first time was Puppets with Ozzy (Cliff's last North American show). James didn't play at the Puppets show as he had broken his arm skateboarding.
