Fact

This hit went from "meh" on first listen to "I guess it is pretty good" after 4-5 listens to "holy shite, I can't stop listening to this album", being stuck in my head constantly, and instead of getting stale after a few listens, continuing to get better and better. Indisputable AOTY.

I'm seeing them live this Thursday. Can't wait.

What fun is TD without unabashed hyperbole?

It probably is for me, but I would understand why others wouldn't feel the same.

What song is most likeable in the fewest listens? I know very little about them.

Fatal Flaw and Dimed Out......or you could listen to the whole album, it's only 93 minutes!

I'm a huge Titus fan (The Monitor is still my favorite album of the 10s), and I love the new album, but I'd still go with Carrie and Lowell as my AOTY. TMLT is an awesome runner-up though.

You'll definitely enjoy it.

Interesting. I know I would have loved these when I was younger.

Oh yeah, I agree. But I'm a TA fanboy. This one, Courtney Barnett, and Viet Cong are probably my favorites for this year.

While the new Sufjan is indeed a masterpiece, it depresses me greatly. I can't listen to it much without going to some dark place.

I love this album, but I'm still siding with my girl, Courtney Barnett. But what I love about Titus, other than their ragged enthusiasm, is their musical ambition. They feel like a throwback to the 80s era of hardcore, when bands were constantly trying to one up each other.

I shall listen to this album in its entirety again today.

My AOTY is still TWIABP's Harmlessness at this point or To Pimp a Butterfly.

Any of you guys listen to the band Ought? Their new album, Sun's Coming Down, is probably right under Titus in my year-end ranks. Some people may find them a little too derivative of late 70s art punk bands like Talking Heads, Wire and Television, but I think they are great. Lead singer actually sounds just like Mark E. Smith of The Fall to me.

Not trying to hijack this thread or anything, I just think most of the people in this thread would dig these guys. Other than that, let's continue on talking about how great Titus is.

I respect Titus Andronicus but this board apparently feels that "largely unenjoyable" is a prerequisite to an AOTY

My only complaint about Lamentable Tragedy is that the middle record is on 45 speed, and the first time I played it, it was on 33 speed. Don't make me fiddle with the knobs, y'all.

Ought and Protomartyr are my other 2 favorites. Especially Ought. It's such a triumph over their previous record which I also thoroughly enjoyed.

I just discovered these guys a few weeks ago. I'm just now going back to their first album. Habit is my 2014 SOTY discovered in 2015.

Great album but my vote goes to "We Cool" by Jeff Rosenstock for AOTY..
