Their lead singer said they she disapproved of the war in Iraq and that she didn't support Bush back in like 2003. Then the rednecks of the world decided that this somehow made their music suck

What they did wasn't "wrong." It was just incredibly stupid based on their fan base. Country music will always have a southern, conservative base.
All they had to do was keep their views to themselves and they'd be a lot richer right now. Hope it was worth it.
