Great song! Why change to a female vocal? You've got the perfect voice and nailed it.

Some of your chord changes remind me of "Where Have You Been All My Life" by Fotomaker. Completely different song, of course.

Keep making music Hoss. Great stuff!

It's not really changing anything I will still have the guy's vocal on a different track, and already have that mixed down anyway. It's better to have a female demo singer,on songs that you will pitch to females.
I just record her vocal on a separate track, and turn his vocal down when mixing her to a CD. Can also maybe use both vocals in spots,so it's like having them backing each other up. I have never tried this actually, but maybe it could work.

Thanks for the compliments also!

Thanks man!
Really,I don't know if talent is exactly what I have.
I have been writing for over 40 years, and I have learned a lot of tricks, techniques and stuff that make it easier to end up with a decent song.
At this point,I couldn't stop if I wanted to.No matter what else I am doing,a part of my brain is working on songs non-stop.

Very well done. Reminds me of an old Alan Jackson song, but I can't place it right now.

I would love to hear you overdub a Willie style classical guitar for those fills. My ears were begging for it.

That is exactly what the sound guy said.If I had a classical guitar there that day,I might have tried it.Kind of glad I didn't.
One thing good to do on a demo to pitch a song,is leave it bare,so artists/producers can imagine how they could make it better. It can be like a challenge to them. Also,if the song can stand up without much dressing up,it's a decent song.
The only guitar I took with me that day, was My Takamine, did everything on that.I think it did pretty well, for a 300 dollar pawnshop guitar. What do you think?

When I got the 1st guitar down and was listening through it,I thought,"That sounds too much like an Alabama song". Lady Down On Love,in particular, but it turned out OK,and doesn't sound too much like a rip off.
Thanks for your input,I truly enjoy discussing stuff like this, because if I'm going to be recording,it's good to think about other ways to approach the project.

Ah ha, I guess I didn't read the OP thoroughly enough. I used to work at a demo studio in Berry Hill, so you are exactly right.

And the Tak did great. I own three 70s model Taks and for my money there's no better acoustic guitars than the 70s Taks. Most of the time I'm play one of them over one of my Martins. If yours isn't a 70s model, you should look into getting one. They're pretty affordable

I'm always looking at and buying used guitars. That particular 1 is an early 90s N-10 cedar top,it was made in Japan. For playing, for me at least, there isn't a better guitar available. I have a Martin-D-28,along with a houseful of other guitars, and that's the acoustic that I prefer to pick up.
From now on though,no Takamine will escape my attention, and hopefully I will come across 1 of the early ones soon.

Look for the "lawsuit guitars" Takamine was sued by Martin because the script on the headstock looked so much like Martin.

Here's a pic of my '77

Oh, I know about them,I am old enough that I use to try new ones out in the shops, but I didn't have that kind of green to buy one then.I had to settle for the cheap junk.

I gotcha. So, you said you recorded here in Nashville, which studio if you don't mind me asking. Were they fair with their rates.

I actually did that in Ashland,AL.,at a little back room studio,50 bucks per hour. The place is called Cheaha Music Co.

Just come to Nashville sometimes to pitch songs and hangout with some pickers and writers I know.

I use to record some demos in Antioch at a guy's place named Gaylen Breen. He called his studio Gator Hole Music, and he did a very good job too.
Back then, there was a demo singer available named Dusty Drake, who was really good, and Gaylen could always get him in to do stuff.
I would like to get a staff writing deal somewhere,so I could spend more time up there, and actually work with some other good writers and artists.
That's been the goal for a long time, but the wheels turn slow.

Oh, I know. Tons of politics in the Nashville scene. I'm trying to do the same thing. I just have to start getting my material out there.

Sweet song. Better than 99% of the crap on country radio. You might want to add trains, trucks or Mama, other than that..... Good job!

Are you a member of NSAI? That's a pretty good way to get to pitch to some publishers, and going to the meetings, you can get a lot of info too.
I use to even get demo session work that way sometimes.
They use to have weekly meetings On Thursday Night at The Musicians Union Hall, don't know when or where, these days though.
At least once a month, there would be a publisher there, looking for songs.
I have been considering joining again.

Thanks Randy! If I get a female singer to sing it, I will get the Mama part in there on the last line!

I am wanting to do some DAC type stuff, had this idea this morning:

She came here from Laredo-and quickly made her mark
Now they call her The Texas tornado-she blew off a whole trailer park.

Still got lots of work to do,but it's a start.
