I used to think that but as time goes on I agree with OP, and might even put Abbey Road in front of SP.

I am a big fan of that medley. I think my favorite part is "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window."

Although they were about to break up, Abbey Road was a time when the band was at a high level of cohesiveness, and that really shines through on Abbey Road. Sgt Pepper is more random bits stringed together to make awesome music, but a lot of it was recorded with the whole band not even being in the studio. To each their own, I flip flop between Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road and Revolver myself.
