Have listened to both of his (solo project) albums and I can't help but think that he and his music as a whole personifies the genres mentioned in the thread title.

It's not too crazy, but it's music you can listen to for pretty much any situation. Any opinions on him?

Tremonti solo stuff is great. He's come a long way since Creed bc he can do what he wants musically now. Alter Bridge are trying to carry the flag for modern hard rock that can be played in mainstream radio. Hopefully more stuff gets out there.

Detractors will just say 'Creed guy? Yeah they suck and frick Stapp' but there's a lot more to Tremonti.

I'm here to defend Creed. My Own Prison was a damn good album.

x2 on my own prison. My own prison is borderline great. And Tremonti's guitar parts are always good, no matter what album. The problem that we all agree on is Scott Stapp's overwhelming, smothering douch-ee-ness.

In all seriousness though, I just feel like it's the purest form of both genres put together. It's not heinous metalcore or freaking Beatles music. It's just a great listen.

Definitely agree with your last paragraph.

And yes My Own Prison was amazing. I like certain Creed. Recently, Overcome and Rain are great. It's just hard to compare after Myles shows up and works so well w Tremonti.

If he is, that might explain why it's so close to extinct in our culture over the past decade.

What do they say about the one-eyed man in the land of the blind? Yeah, exactly.

Absolutely, you can have a LP with a tremelo. There is one sitting in the room with me that belongs to my son.

As the photo shows, he does use the whammy on some guitars for some songs, but he mostly uses a standard Les Paul.

Those sounds that some folks might think he is making with a whammy are part of his unique style that combines pinch harmonics and vibrato. Does he overdo it? Yeah, just a little bit.

Tremonti lays into the whammy in every solo he does. Evidence in the videos I linked. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with that.

Both of these guys are great guitarists and are carrying the torch these days when few others are.

If you throw Tremonti out as being the king, what does that make Myles Kennedy?

Tremonti & metal should never, EVER be in the same sentence. Unless the sentence is, "Mark Tremonti has nothing to do with metal."

Somebody hasn't heard his solo work.

Mark is also one of the good guys in rock and roll.

A tenor lead singer who has an extensive career of playing the guitar. Influenced by Jazz and Classical music alike, he prefers his music and solos in specific to be a little more soulful in a sense. I think it's probably one of the best duos in the history of rock and roll considering Myles' vocal range and guitar skills. Tremonti isn't a bad singer either.

Myles main inspiration came from the Beatles when he was young. His guitar instructor was big on classical and (then) rock in general. I believe Myles may be more technical, but Tremonti is more natural and aggressive in his style. You kind of get what I mean?
