Is Gojira the best metal band to come about in the last 25 years?

Slipknot has had more influence and TOOL is more Prog Rock/Borderline metal but recently got into Gojira and holy shite. They don’t have a bad album.

Great band but best is pure personal taste. For me the last 25 years possibly would be
Opeth
Mastodon
Jinjer-holy shite this band is coming on hard
Tool-just outside 25 years
edited Tool as they started in 1995

It got some hate on here but Fortitude is a fricken solid album. I still like Slipknot more due to more range in vocals and structure but Gojira is up there for sure.

Umm... Opiate was released in '92. They formed in '90.

TWOTF has been hitting hard lately.
I really like From Mars to Sirius, TWOTF, and Magma as my top 3. Fortitude is legit but seems to be more single hit focused. Don’t really have a “From Mars” + “To Sirius” on Fortitude.
frick that song hits hard though when it transitions.

Mario’s drum work on Esoteric Surgery is mind boggling.

I think I was listening to The Art or Dying and thinking about how fricking good he is. Danny Carey is tGOAT but I think Mario is very underrated.

Hasn't Mario won some "best metal drummer" award several years? I always see him listed very highly when metal drummers are rated, so I feel like he's pretty properly rated.
Obviously a subjective topic. Agree that Jinjer is really a strong contender too.
A few other personal favorites like Opeth & Enslaved just miss the cut, but here are a couple who do fit:
Ne Obliviscaris
Allegaeon

5 years before that. It’s crazy that they’ve been a band for 31 years.

No I’ll go with Powertrip
I have seen Power Trip so many times in and around Dallas/Fort Worth and TX since 2009. I shoot photos of most of the hardcore shows in DFW and have tons of Power Trip photos. My friends. I still haven't really gotten over Riley's passing.

I can’t wait to see them live in a couple of weeks, very excited to see them in a small club.

In the past 25 years? That's quite a span. Death was active during that period. So was Suffocation. My answer has to be no.
