For electric guitar, absolutely! I have a 15 watt that goes down to 1 watt and even that is too loud.

I've got a 10w Vox Pathfinder and a 15w Marshall that are both plenty loud enough. I run my Strat through both at the same time. Love the sound.

Yeah. Stereo changed my life. I run mine with a Laney lionheart 20 watt and a Laney cub 15 watt.

My favorite practice amp, for beginner to advanced, is a Roland Micro Cube. Lightweight and lunch box sized, bulletproof build, plenty of great sounding amp/tone models and onboard effects (including an acoustic simulator, VERY cool), it has a headphone jack and it runs on AA batteries (ultimate portability) for a long time if you're good about turning it off when not in use.

If it is a 10 watt all tube amp, then yes that will be plenty for a beginner. Thing will get loud actually.

Even a little chickenshit Fender Frontman will be more than loud enough for a beginner. The next tier, when he wants to start playing small gigs, could be something like a Fender Mustang II. Then, when he’s more established, maybe go with an all tube fender reverb.

10 watts of tube power through a normal 12” speaker can be very loud! I have a 5 watt 57 reissue champ that I play through a closed back 2 12 with a celetion blue and a greenback, it will rip and snarl with my Les Paul.

So, you're saying you like Fender amps?

Yes, 10watts is plently for a beginner it doesn't have to be a tube amp ethier. For a kid I'd get the smallest cheapest amp for starting. As long as the guitar plays well they will be able to get an idea if they want to go forward with it

I do. But I just used them only because I’m more familiar with them, and because they have a large lineup of scalable amps both tube and solid state.

A buddy of mine plays on a Mustang II and while I wouldn’t consider it a serious gigging amp, it is super versatile and fun thanks to all the pre-loaded distortion settings. It’s like an entire pedal board in one fairly cheap amp.

I play on a fender hotrod deluxe, and that pure tube sound is just heaven to me when it’s dialed in just how I like it.

It will be plenty! You may want to check to see if it has a headphone jack to save your sanity

Don't make the mistake I did and skimp on the amp. I bought some cheap amp for $100~ at guitar center,It was 20w btw and it sucked. I went back and traded it In for $30 2 months later after I started to really learn to play. I now have the boss katana 50 and it's amazing. Totally recommend it to anyone and it doesn't break the bank.
