Didn't see anything come up on a google search, so sorry if already posted. Just curious if any of y'all guitar baws have or have had one?
Looks department seems fine but havent been able to lay hands on one. Epi using the open book Gibson headstock is pretty sick but at that price not too far off from an American Guild F-55 or some other American made jumbo.
Sorry to clog the thread, if no-one has any knowledge on em just let this post fade into the abyss, Thanks, baws.

A friend of mine got one a few weeks ago. It's absolutely gorgeous and plays and sounds like a million bucks. Beautiful guitar. Beautiful wood.

Thanks Aug, I've done some research non them and it seems like the newer IBG ones have been liked a lot by people. Just hate to order one without playing one. I'll keep an eye out, I don't play in any way that justifies the price of the real Gibson but one of those dream guitars. Appreciate the input there.

It's probably the best guitar that I have seen, straight out of the box. It didn't need anything. No tweaking, no fret work, nothing.

Good to know. I know Epiphone and Gibson have had a history of being hit or miss (esp Epi). Well all guitars really. Just realized I probably can't find any in stores because they're back ordered at a few of the big box stores.

The SJ 200 is my, like most guitar players, dream guitar! I've always read great things about the Epi version. I may go ahead and get me one. Whats the price tag on one? If I remember correctly about 7 or 800?
ETA- Goodness, looked it up.........more like twice my guess at $1500! May have to put it on the back burner........

The 1957 model is around $1,500. It's a joint venture with Gibson custom shop. The other Epiphone IBG J200 is around $900. It's nice too, but not as nice as the 1957 model.

Not to bump an old thread, been tied up. But thanks Auggie, Sidewalk and everyone. Definitely considering trading in some I dont play or just biting the bullet when the 1957 comes back in stock places. Can't decide which color would look better, I feel like the satin finish for the burst is nice but the other natural colors has a better look. Just want to lay hands on a few.
I played the Banner j45 epi IBG at a GC and wasn't super impressed but for that price you aren't too far from the lowest Gibson j45. Can't really get close to the SJ200 1957 or pre war versions in Gibson without dropping some serious money.

I am close enough to Fuller Guitars. They have a large Gibson selection. J45 and SJ200s. You name it. IMO you have to hold them in your hands. There was a ton of variability. They are all great. But some are amazing. Which makes just “great” a disappointment. Because they all cost the same.
The just a CSB. They had a vintage (1943 I believe) J50 or 55. I’m not exact on Gibson numbering. It had been just played by someone who left it on a stand not behind the counter. I pick it up while gawking at others. I think it’s just a misplaced relic’d custom shop. It sounds AMAZING. A sales guy walks up and says “you can sit when you have a guitar like that”. Stools all over. I do. Think “that’s odd”. Look in the soundhole. Sniff it and laugh. “Sorry man. Didn’t know it was a real deal. “
Some fella who probably loved Johnny Cash had painted it black 30-40 years prior. Then played the hell out of it. Player grade and priced properly $6500 I think.

That is definitely the truth. That Epi Banner I mentioned probably would have been much better set up some, but the j45 I grabbed (the cheapest the had in another room definitely felt better but had either come from the factory set up or GC had set it up- besides the obvious bump in alleged quality).
I appreciate your input, maybe they'll flood the stores before long or used ones that people really broke in will start popping up. Always liked to buy used if the price and condition was right.
