Great list. With the exception of the Meters and Pixies and Talking Heads, I considered those other 23.

I've been meaning to start a thread where you must pick bands from one letter. R was going to be an easy choice for me. I mean, not even close.

Yeah R was tough for me also, but I ended up having to go with RUSH simply because of irreplaceable memories such as listening to "Moving Pictures" while I was touring Stonehenge and playing Permanent Waves and 2112 back to back from Shreveport to Baton Rouge at 3 a.m. and when the cd changer was done with both, I was already in Opelousas without even knowing. RUSH is one of those that I hardly ever want to put on at the house (especially around my wife), but for the last 25 years, they've been a big part of me.

I also heavily considered R.E.M., Robin Trower, Rolling Stones, The Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Ride.

J had to be my toughest as I picked Joy Division over Jane's Addiction, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley, Journey, and James Brown.

X was the only band I could think of for 'x', but I do like them a lot. Very underappreciated.

The only no-brainers for me were L, A, and P. That says something considering:

Afghan Whigs
Air
Aerosmith
Anthrax

Live
Lynard Skynard
Leny Kravitz

Pearl Jam
Public Image, Ltd.
Pantera
Poor Righteous Teachers
Prince...

but no way they outdo AIC, who I have about 44 songs for on my ipod; Led Zeppelin who I have 81 songs for; and Floyd who I have 48 songs for.

Next trick...take a poster either above or below your list and rate their selections...

Try to figure out what kind of dude/girl he is based upon his/her selections.

W - Weezer - B
X - Xzibit - D+
Y - Yoakam, Dwight - D
Z - ZZ Top - A-

OVERALL GRADE: C+

You seem to be well-rounded with some good tastes mostly in rock, but obviously you must be at least 37 or older. Incubus and Weezer were your only truly 90's selections, so I doubt you like the Seattle stuff, nor the indie/alternative stuff...but then again, you seem to like a lotta hip-hop so I will just call you 37. How close am I?

Your classic rock selections were very good and original like Cat Stevens and the Allmans. I questioned how you could like such awesome classic rock, but still leave out the likes of the Eagles (just for example) due to Eminem. Or, TI over T. Rex or Thin Lizzy or Jay Z over John Lennon.

It seems like you like east coast and soulish hip hop and some old school stuff, so I questioned you picking Neil Diamond, especially with a ?, over Nas or Nelly.

You definitely do not care much for heavy metal and grunge, nor much of the hair band stuff. In a good way, you remind me of one of my buddies who was a frat boy at Auburn and he loved to make mixtapes that included a wide, but safe array of tunes for his brothers and the girls. If anything, he was all about picking stuff he knew the girls would get down to. You liked to keep the party going.

Nothing too weird, but for RUSH (which is not that weird like it was in 1977 to like). You are a radio guy who could rotate between 98.1, 97.7, and hip-hop stations as your presets.

You also dig some jam bands -- maybe Phish, Govt Mule, WSP, and the like. You do not use drugs often, but when you do, likely a lil pot here and there and a concert is a good excuse to do that.

Ok, as a music profiler, how did I do?

Nice. I do not meet too many of those. I would say that 95 of 100 people I could call a friend of some kind, ages 28-48, do not know them.
