Friends are over on porch Friday night. We are smoking cigars and drinking some good rye. Subject eventually of concerts comes up. "What is the best you've ever been to?"

One friend there is in his late 60's. He went last. He just says Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. Mentioned The Band also.

I flipped him off.

I'm torn between a Benji Davis joke and a Don McLean joke.

Just curious, has the term "punked" been changed from when it had something to do with practical jokes? Trying to keep my vernacular up to date.

Is this the kind of stuff they pulled on that Ashton Kutcher hidden camera show?

Doesn't seem worthy of a series.

There used to be a guy at the LSU barber shop who saw all sorts of people back in the day. I remember he saw The Doors (possibly at their last show, at the NO Warehouse). He may still be at the barber shop.

I think my fave was the black guy I once met who not only had seen a bunch of R&B legends like Sam Cooke, but also said he attended the Beatles concert at Tad Gormley Stadium in '64.

mention the Velvet Underground to somebody in Dallas over 60 and half of them will claim to have attended the show on the '69 Live album.

Same w/anybody that age in Miami, they'll all claim to have been at the Doors show where Jim Morrison let it all hang out

music is so much more diverse these days, its hard to hit the can't miss tours of the future, just cause there are so many.

with that said, I will always have RHCP, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam. That show was killer, especially with Pearl Jam opening up.
