Again, I love these crazy stories about these guitars.
I'm with you Ace. When I was rebuilding my black strat into something similar to Gilmour's Black Strat I read all sorts of stories about that axe's history. And part of that history was seeing him play it in 1977. I also enjoyed reading about all of SRV's guitars, Number 1, Lenny and all the rest.

You also cannot duplicate the feel of a Gibson neck.
What kind of neck does your 2007 LP have? I think that Gibson necks are known to be more thin than Fender necks, so, I assume it's a thin neck profile.
But, as you know, Gibson necks in the past have varied from year to year, even on the same model, such as the LP.
Apparently, in 1959, the Gibson Les Paul with humbucker model came with various neck sizes because Jimmy Page had one 59 neck shaved down to match the other 59 neck that he preferred.

Ah - but there's the rub - No. 1 - he bought from Joe Walsh. Prior to the sale, Joe had it shaved down. So, Page had No. 2 match No. 1 as closely as possible - typically he kept it strung differently for the crazy alternate tunings. (FTR, I've broken strings trying to tune an acoustic to play Rain Song.)
Got to keep up with the history, Champ.

Im honestly not sure if it's "60's Thin" or "50's" neck. It is slightly thicker than my American Deluxe Tele neck, but the nut width and 12 fret width are narrower than Fender necks so it's probably a perception that it's chunkier. The shorter scale on the Les Paul makes it easier to play for me as well, but it's really about the weight of it. I can grab onto a string and vibrato the frick out of due to the Les Paul headstock and neck feeling like it has more weight to it. Again, this could be perception but it is far easier to vibrato my Les Paul than my Tele. I actually play with .012 gauge strings tuned down a 1/2 step (SRV style) because I vibrato very aggressively (Wylde style I suppose) and would go out of pitch every once in a while. The .012's fight back just right.

You have lockers, baw? I'm not saying it's the cure all, but it helps with this as your guitar ages - that's for sure. My Strat has a pop in trem that I never use, but the lockers keep it tuned pretty well.
Only thing I had to get used to is that you tune down to pitch with lockers.
