Amazona

How can you listen to this track from 1973's Stranded album and be meh about it. This band with an without Eno was brilliant from 1971 to 1975. after Siren I can see the wavering of affection.
But their first five albums were brilliant.

frick later songs like "more than this, etc.." there early stuff brings tears to my eyes.

brilliant

Very underrated. They were the best glam band of the 70s and their album Manifesto in 1979 set the stage for 80s new wave.

Properly rated. Brian Eno in particular is widely regarded as a genius and one of the best ears in musical history.

They're only underappreciated in the US -- they were major stars in the UK and Ferry became a famous face

Roxy Music - "Mother Of Pearl"

They're one of my favorite bands of the first half of the '70s (along w/Mott The Hoople, Big Star, and Badfinger). All their albums have some great stuff, and Avalon is one of their very best.

Came in to post Mother of Pearl

Roxy Music produced some of the most influential and copied music of all time and also produced 3 of the all time great musicians in Eno, Ferry, and Manzanara

The first 4 or 5 albums are classics, although none were probably as good as the first 2 with Eno

I like Enos early solo stuff better, but Roxy Music is a top 10 all time band in my book

Ferry is also one of the all-time great frontmen

Agree with all sentiments and posts, sans any slander to latter era Roxy Music, which still versus it's era, was high watermark elegance. And Avalon was 1980s Barry White pantry dropper music for Brat Pack era preppies and yuppies.

It'd put this song up there with my all faves, and was the song that really got me into Roxy Music
