because there was no internet around...
we relied on word of mouth, fanzines and the local record store... and sometime those 120 minutes on Sunday nights...

Exactly, if they didn't make 120 Minutes or were being played when I was at Paradise records by campus or had one of my friends that listened to them, it wasn't known by me and I had a shite ton of albums in the 80's

I used to hit the periodicals at the Parish Library thumbing through copies of Melody Maker, Q Magazine, NME and any other British music mag they had just to read a 2 sentence blurb about who was recording new music....those were the days.

I knew because my buddy worked at KLSU and blew The Bears up every weekend, and we'd sit there at the studio and booze it up **cough cough. You know how it worked over there, the more obscure, the better...

Nope. I didn't work there, my buddy did and I hung out with him.
