This is gonna make me sound like a hipster but i got into melon way before no rain blew up.

Well the album was released about 8-9 months before they blew up. Coincidentally, very similar to GNR's Appetite. Knew about them b/c I was in MS at the time.

I wish I could've witnessed these songs being released

Actually No Rain become a pop sensation and Galaxie seemed more intended to their target audience. At least that's my perception.

I'm glad they received such a unanimously positive response. I admittedly have not listened to them as much in the past few months, but I still have them in my tops.

Shannon singing soup live in his white dress gives me chill bumps.

Sleepy house and Drive were always my favorites, and I hold a special place for mouthful of cavities. I did get to see them at the Varsity a couple of years ago with Travis. While it was by no means SH, it was cool getting to hear the rest o the guys playing the songs that I had worshiped and never thought I would hear live.

God the nostalgia is overwhelming.

One of my favorite '90s bands. Man why did Shannon have to O.D.

:sigh:

Him and Chris Farley were buddies. There is a recording of a Blind Melon show somewhere out there where you can hear Farley's distinct laugh in between songs in the crowd.

One amazingly good album. Brief career. Enough said.

Found it:

Listen to "Walk"

Girl: Are you from Saturday Night Live?
Farley: Yeah, how you doing?
Girl: I love you!

I think there's a few other times in the show you can hear him.

I envy you bro. If I could go back in time and catch two shows, it would be BMs last show and Jimi at Woodstock. Unfortunately, to have caught BM in their hayday, I would have had to have been going to shows at 6.

I just wonder if the people that I elder will be like "man you got to see WSP and gov. mule and DMB in concert? I envy you"

Btw, of all the big names Ive seen live, my favorite concert ever was intl' fest in Lafayette last year. Reggae band from Jamaica named Rootz Underground. If you like reggae, you should check out their MySpace or their website. Their band name dot com. The vibe at their show is hard to touch.... And maybe my bias extends from me knowing them personally, bu they're still ridiculous on stage.

i'm really glad to see blind melon getting a good reception. i know too many ignorant people that label them a 90's one hit wonder.

weirdest blind melon memory: eating breakfast at Louie's one morning in college, and this fratstar two chairs down from me at the bar busts out "NEEEEDLEEE, FETAALLLL, SOMEONE'S POURING WARM GRAVY ALL OVA MEEEE OOHH YEAAAA"

Their one "hit" was like the 6th best song on that album.

I've been a huge fan of them since middle school. Can't think of a song that I dislike.

How bout when he played Letterman with the question mark on his head, upon the announcement of Cobains death. That version of Change was on of his most heart felt performances.

RIP Shannon Hoon.

Saw Blind Melon when they opened for Lenny Kravitz at UNO lakefront. It really wasn't the best venue to see them live so it was a little lackluster. Much preferred a more intimate setting.
