um, probably thousands upon thousands of them. The only difference in Billy Squier and the millions of one hit wonders that have existed is that Billy had 2 hits, or maybe 3 I guess depending on what your definition is.

I guess I'm just curious on why you singled him out as if having a breakthrough hit and ebing mega popular for a minute then not doing much else the rest of your career is a weird concept or somethign unique to Billy?

This comes off as not really knowing the subject very well. He had at least 6 very popular songs. He crashed fast, and the video for Rock Me Tonight is often credited for the crash.

I never really thought much about the video....but yeah . I suspect George Michael and Freddie Mercury called him and said...." ummmm we know gay , and we are not THAT gay"

True story though. I actually met him about 15 years ago at a Music club in NYC. He was there with his wife and came across as just a regular guy....probably is.

The rumor that this video killed his career has been around almost as long as the video itself has. Since this was his last hit, after having a string of songs getting regular radio play in a short amount of time, the rumor seems to have legs.

Plus, it does look incredibly gay. If it is true, it's a shame, though. His music was pretty decent. I'd rather have seen it happen to someone like REO for "Can't Fight This Feeling" or Starship for pretty much everything they recorded as Starship, but especially We Built This City.
