I stopped listening to Green Day after American Idiot. They were in their prime when Dookie and Insomniac came out.

I don't know what to think of this.

Great, just when the garbage from the last cd finally stops getting played on every other channel, here it goes again.

Some of your really need to chill out. In spite of what you may believe, it's all pop music.

Well considering the fact they are now well into their 30's, they can't really make punk music anymore can they? All artists have to mature and their music does the same.

No, they need to sound the same as they did two decades ago!

I also love when people with absolutely no connection to the punk scene claim a band isn't punk enough.
How exactly did the pop punk band sell out? By writing even more catchy, bouncy tunes? Those bastards! It's not like their major label stuff is all that different from Kerplunk or Slappy.

I personally think GD has supremely fell off. They openly said they wanted to be more like U2 and were fine with their music being very different. They are way to political for me too. I could care less about politics and have always been neutral so it's not a matter of which side they are on, I just get tired of bands "trying to send a message" politically in their music. 21 guns is one of my least favorite songs in the past ten years.

When guys form a band for the purpose of getting rich and famous and succeed at that the way Green Day has how could you say they sold out?
You have the wrong idea of what their goal as a band was, I think. They have admitted to wanting only to get rich, they have gotten rich.
