Mac Demarco? Or does it have to be everyone in the band?

No one mentioned in this thread comes anywhere close to The Band.
2nd best would obviously be Snow

Fair enough, then. I agree that the greatest "mostly" Canadian band was The Band.
The greatest all Canadian band is either Rush or The Guess Who.

Whatever Gordon Lightfoot called his backing band. He's a Canadian national treasure.

No one's mentioned Bachman-Turner Overdrive, so I will. Not the greatest, but a good band.
Same with Trooper.
If we were counting solos, I'd include Neil Young and Bryan Adams.

Unless some of y'all buy into the logic that since Helm was an American, and therefore the Band isn't Canadian, then I have no idea how you can put any other outfit above them.
They had limited output, to be sure, but the material they produced is absolutely top fricking notch.

Because Rush is far more talented, far more successful, and has had far more staying power.

I am a big RUSH fan, and can agree with the latter two, but not the first.
This is entirely subjective, obviously, but I think Music From Big Pink is a Top 10 album of all time.
