Give it a watch.

Very interesting watching what he does with that pick in his right hand. He doesn't really use it for playing, just more of a discipline tool, to make him keep his index and middle fingers close together.
Some players wear big rings ( Tony Rice comes to mind) they wear big rings on their left hand, I always suspected, to keep their fingers spread apart, and maybe the weight helps them on hammers, and slows them down on let offs?
I always like watching videos like that and catching what I think might be secrets.

Dude is a killer. That SG is amazing. You know Duane is smiling down.

Oh you got that right. Jack is just a nice guy too. Just regular as can be.
I'm also watching this lesson that he gives, mostly pretty standard stuff.
He just uses a stock Indonesian Squier Strat, but he switched the tone control from the middle pickup to the bridge pickup.

I’ve gotten to hang out with Jack a few times. He’s a really great guy.

It sucks that he’s not more well known, but I think he’s cool with being a musician’s musician.

Sometimes he sits in with an ABB cover band here out of Nashville. The band is made up of amazing musicians, some being studio guys, but when Jack comes in there is a staggering difference in authenticity. The guy is simply a next level player.

@Eli G... lucky you. I discovered Jack back when he and Oteil replaced Warren & Woody... I was so upset when I heard W&W was leaving the ABB. Then I saw them later that summer.

Dickey was my man, but he played so loud that Jack's tinnitus was too much (as well as Dickey's drinking). Jack got me into slide guitar... he's probably my top 3 guitarists who influenced my playing.

Jack aint nothin but the truth. What he says about different speeds, is the most overlooked simple thing IMO.
