I already have every studio and live album, as well as every volume of Dick's Picks. That shite takes up about 16GB of my hard drive. What would I be missing if I didn't purchase it?

I have an unknown number of shows. I have at least 120 on cassette I got from an older deadhead when I was 16 and really diving in to them in the early 2000's.
They are far and away my favorite band, and if you told me I could either listen to whatever music I can find of theirs and nothing else or never listen to them ever again I would pick the former without a doubt.
That said, I feel paying that much for their music, and them charging it in the first place is offensive.
I got these cassettes in the mail completely free from a cat who self recorded most of them. The quality on many leaves something to be desired; some are incomplete but by god I felt what it was like to be a member of Deadhead Society.
There is something to be said for the free sharing of tapes, recordings of any kind. It's something they used to freely support and helped build their legacy as the greatest touring band of all time.
I won't pay $700 for something a guy I just bought a hit of acid from would gladly trade me for an SBD recording of a show he doesn't already have. That, to me, who admittedly never saw Jerry live because I was too young, is what it's about.
But if I had $700 lying around, I would probably do it.

It is 80...80 CDs filled with TOTALLY REMASTERED FROM ORIGINAL VAULT TAPES of previously unreleased music.
That works out to $8.74 per CD.
There was a crapload of time, effort, expertise, and mixing/studio time that went into mastering these shows.
Bands have been releasing 2 and 3 CD live shows for years and selling them at record shops or Amazon for around $22-27 and no one really complained.
This works out to about $25 for a complete remastered 3 CD live show in this box set--about the norm.
I will also say that as an owner of most of the other GD limited box sets, they put out an absolute first class product. The boxes contain books, Dead paraphernalia, reproduced old ticket stubs and back stage passes, lithographs...even DEAD playing cards and dice!!
So you get a little something extra for your outlay.
