I would like to nominate Mike Bloomfield, the Chicago-born blues guitarist that played on Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone, Maggie's Farm, and played with him at his legendary set at the Newport Folk Festival.
He turned down an offer to play with Dylan's touring band full time in order to play in blues bands, and helping his friends on their solo records. He spent the rest of his life doing that and playing small San Francisco blues clubs.
Mike Bloomfield & Electric Flag
Janis Joplin & Mike Bloomfield

John Frusciante has kinda been a recluse since 2008, making music mostly for himself. Can’t wait for to hear new RHCP with him.

Drugs were the reason the first time after BSSM. The second time he grew tired and bored of the success. I'm really excited to hear their new stuff too.

He's a pederast.
Was not aware of that. Explains why he keeps a low profile.

Does Lindsay Buckingham qualify? He seemed to share a lot of the spotlight with the 2 girls in the band.

Alex Lifeson is a pederast?

Adam Jones. I don't think I've ever seen him do a video interview.
In a band of introverted artists, he stands out as the introverted artist.
I don't think he is a misanthrope like Maynard, but really just comfortable with himself to the exclusion of other social contacts consistent with his profession.
He has participated in interviews, but it seems clear he would rather be anywhere but there.
Adam Jones would rather be doing his taxes right now

He was the perfect guitarist for The Cars.

NO.
He was replying to OldTigahFot who mentioned Waddy Wachtel.
