Thanks Hashtag.

I love it.

Got home Saturday afternoon with it.Forgot to tune it til Sunday morning. It was like turning an amp on.

It's got a lot of projection.

It even smells good.

bruh. I know. It's strange feeling the vibration from a guitar like these. This Guild D55 is so freaking loud and feels like I have a subwoofer in my lap.

I love the smell of a well made and hydrated guitar.

You have a good humidification solution for keeping your new toy in line?

"That" distinctive (in a pleasant way) smell inside of a Martin is usually the Spanish cedar used to make the body kerfling. I love that smell so much I've considered buying scrap Spanish cedar chips to make my shop smell like that. I'm sure the other woods' natural aromas, the lacquer and the case construction adhesives are also absorbed/emitted to a degree. Whatever it is, I LOVE that Martin smell.

For humidification, look at a Dampit (Google it) and at the systems offered by D'Addario/Planet Waves. They do the job well and are all very affordable.

This level of guitar, particularly Martin, Taylor and Guild age so incredibly well. I know it's outside "normal" range, but I have an excellent American made Ovation. It's fun to play, relatively light, easy to move around, is built around the pickup/tuner so that's not an issue. It's kind of a tweener, between Dreadnaught and Parlor size. It projects forward well, but does sound a little thin/tinny unplugged (and I almost always play it unplugged). It's my "Toyota Camry" - a guitar to use for utilitarian purposes.

But, I also have an old, damaged Guild D-35. It's circa 1980 - 1982 (Westerly). I got it from a buddy who is a professional guitarist. The strap broke while he was playing and it has a broken shoulder and running cracks along the sides. He soldiered on with a Takamine that he hated and ended up giving me the Guild, which he loved, to learn on.

Because of the age, the thing resonates like a grand piano - 360 degrees and you feel like you're in the guitar playing it. It's by far my best sounding guitar.

My buddy bought one from a guy. I am pretty sure it’s a 1973. It’s been played but no real issues. He paid dirt cheap for it. The guy must have been in a bind. It is awesome. The neck feels like a bat. Told my buddy after research and pics he sent that I think his may have Brazilian RW sides.

Sounds great. Truly an “instrument” once you get to these levels.

One day when I am willing to play in front of people without fear of them running, I’ll buy one. As mentioned before. I think a Clapton 000-28. But who knows.
