Always fun to play when you're getting a band together.
I used to love The Doors version, but lately I've been digging on Jimi's take during a sound check while recording Axis.
Here is a video of it. It rocks.

The Gants -- this band from the sleepy Delta town of Greenwood MS did the earliest known cover, in November 1965. I prefer it to the US hit version, released by Chicago's Shadows of Knight about a month later.

Played--usually more than once--at every Coke dance at Margate Junior High, 1964-1966. Great song for stirring up surging adolescent hormones.

Never really liked that song. There's just not much to it.
