Bofem!
I have 3 Fenders (2 Strats and a Tele) and love their versatility. I only have one Gibson, an old, old LP Jr. They all have their uses and their place in my arsenal. I like Les Pauls but don't like how damn heavy they are. However, you pick one up and you can see immediately that you're dealing with a serious musical instrument. The workmanship is stunning. The Gibson that I'm most covetous of is the ES-335.

I just dropped John Mayer signature pickups in my 2007 Fender Strat and the tone is amazing. It's totally apples and oranges, though. Gibson ES-335 is one of the sexiest playing/sounding guitars in existence.

Tell me a song that best personifies those pickups, what kind of amp do you have?
I agree! A cherry red 335 is pure sex. Legendary tone.

I may have to try those. One of my Strats has Texas Specials in it, which I don't really like that much. Pickups make such a huge different in sound. I also really like the Fender Custom Shop '69 pickups.
And this is one of the reasons I'm fond of Fender. It's so easy to replace almost any component on the guitar. I have a Strat where the only original components are the neck, the body and the jack.

Basically anything off of Mayer's album Continuum and the Trio stuff. They are right out of his signature model strat that he used for both of those albums. It's a lesser version of his "Black One", basically. Slow Dancing, for instance, sounds fricking incredible on these pups. I play out of a Fender Blues Deluxe tube.

Here is mine with the new pups:
ETA: the color is less blue in the picture than would be representative. The color is Daphne Blue.

Nice. I may be in the minority, but I like the bigger headstock.

Thanks! Same here. The 70's headstocks are my favorite.

That's a great sound...my favorite Mayer era. Belief is a really good tune.
