the varsity is booking good bands again.
Futurebirds are one of the best bands touring in 2023. Do yourself a favor and catch them live March 2nd.

I saw they booked Vertical Horizon and was WTF at first, but apparently it's for the charity Jacques Doucet works with so I'm not going to say anything harsh.

I’m not gonna consider the varsity a real reopened venue until they book insane clown posse

ETA: or Corey Feldman

We saw them in Nashville at Brooklyn Bowl in December and they were as great as usual. Packed the place out. The crowd was very young and fratty, kind of a shitty crowd TBH to my surprise. Hot coeds everywhere though. Glad they are selling tickets.

I know they were playing UVA frat parties about 10 years ago. Always a great show.

I hope they start booking washed up emo bands again. Hawthorne Heights and Yellowcard were great shows. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus wasn’t, but they can’t all be winners.

Just go to When We Were Young Fest LOL, they just added a second date.. $300 for one day to hear a bunch of 30 minute sets minus the headliners who get an hour.

On a more serious note we should be grateful that Chelsea's is booking bands like Pup, Drug Church and some of the up in coming Hardcore bands that for the last 20 years were really uncommon even at times in Nola. (need to lower their alcohol prices though)

Riot fest is a much better deal than When We Were Young.

Chelsea’s has Joyce Manor coming up, which is cool.

Chelsea’s liquor prices are absurd and I pretty much refuse to buy drinks there as a result.

I've gone to Riot every year since 2016 (minus 2020 when it didn't happen & 2021 when I had other plans), it's like $75 to fly out of Nola to Chicago and up until last year hotels weren't crazy (rented a tiny studio apt last year but that was all I needed)

Chelsea’s high noons are like 11 bucks smh

Plus it’s like 40 miles away

Bring back the varsity full time. I offer my services as house band. It’s always been my dream to play there but they wanted an $1800 guarantee lol

I went in 22, can’t wait to go back. Who was your favorite act last year, and was your favorite band you saw that you’d never heard of before going?

This booking happened because of j hovah over at Beauvoir park. He’s tight with futurebirds and has booked them several times over of the years.

I think the varsity really wants to commit to having some big acts play there and have upgraded the venue quite a bit since they started doing shows again.

Man I saw so many awesome shows at the Varsity in school. Lived at Northgate my sophomore year and we saw the whole gambit: Galactic, Bassnectar, Umphreys McGee, Rebelution. I loved that spot!
