I haven't heard the album, so it may be great in my eventual opinion. But these media outlets want to be among the first to crown the "first gay hip-hop star" and they will do so no matter the quality of the music.

I agree with you to an extent.
I think a lot of people are finding genuine quality without that fact though. For instance a bunch of my friends, pre-bisexual announcement, who were already salivating at the tracks they had heard.
But I think his coming out amplified his hypewave to a great extent.

I found that out after listening to the album and didn't even notice. Supposedly a lot of the songs say "he" instead of "she".

There were many rave reviews before he came out from the different listening sessions that these outlets attended. Frank got really good reviews on his previous project as well and a lot of the songs on there were simply remakes of other artists' songs. Maybe his coming out helped the ratings a touch, but that's far from being the key reason he's getting such high reviews.

Album of the year.
He's a mix of D'Angelo, Marvin Gaye, Maxwell, Prince, Usher and a lil Elton John.
most important r&b album since the miseducation of lauryn hill. Best r&b album in a long time (since BLACKsummersnights).
He's a great lyricist and as a r&b guy, I wouldn't really give it a genre. R&b pigeon holes it.
It's a 10 in my book. I'm biased as he is my favorite artist .
I don't trust any super liberal website reviewing r&b... Because they don't listen to r&b.

I absolutely love the album. Super rich kids; thinking 'bout you; bad religion; and forrest gump are simply amazing.
