Supposedly, this song is really hard to find on most music streaming services and doesn't really get any play on classic pop/rock stations.

I definitely remember it getting a lot of radio/Mtv play when it was on the charts (peaked at #3).

#3?

Not sure it got that high
I remember it, but don’t remember it as a top five type song

wikipedia has it at 12 on the Hot 100 and 6 on the Mainstream Rock charts. I thought that I read somewhere that it got up to #3, but I guess not.

I had the album that he released after that. Don't remember much about it, but it seems like "Do What You Do" was the big single off of it.

Pretty much anything with "Jackson" on it was selling back then.

The thing I remember about the video for "Lights Out" is that MTV had the exclusive rights to show it for the first few weeks or so. Also, "Magic" by the Cars was one of these. I remember Ric Ocasek walking on water in the swimming pool in the video.

This was when videos were first born, and channels would fight over the right to get the new ones exclusively. I know HBO had their "HBOnly" logo at the bottom of their exclusive videos between movies. MTV would usually pick a Friday night at 8pm for Madonna's or Prince's world premiere video, then have it exclusively for a period of time.

Those world premier videos. I know that I saw more than two of these, but I can definitely remember making sure that I was in front of the tv the first time that Thriller and Panama by Van Halen premiered.
