Freese wasn't my first choice (Rufus Taylor) but he's about as solid as you can get. That being said seeing them live with him, something doesn't feel right. He's almost too good and clinical for them. Hawkins wasn't as good of a drummer but he had a recklessness about him live that was awesome to watch.

Who the frick are The Vandals?

This move appears to have pissed off some other pros as well. I thought it'd be Rufus Taylor, he just makes too much sense. He's out this summer with the Darkness though so idk.

It’s hard to think of a musician as universally adored in the upper echelons of Rock music, from techs to band leaders, as Josh Freese. You don’t treat someone like him this way. You certainly don’t fire him unceremoniously like this and then replace him with a an 18 year old nepotism baby. I’m not sure a lot of you appreciate just how big of a giant, and respected Josh Freese is in his industry.

This wasn’t proper at all.

Freese just couldn’t hang with someone as edgy and hardcore as Dave Grohl. Did you know he brought a solo cup to the Grammys once ?!?

He is, but I also think he doesn't fit with them
Love him or hate him, Dave has had some insanely memorable drum parts. Multiple tracks in Nirvana, a handful of good ones with FF, and truly incredible shite in QOTSA.

I couldn't name you a single track by Freese that stands out. You know when Dave is playing.

Most FF stuff starts out with drums and they build out from that. Freese can play anything, but he isn't coming up with My Hero or Teen Spirit or No One Knows or Song for the Deaf. Still a shite way to let him go, but I can see the rationale.
