I've been listening to Fleetwood Mac's "Big Love" a good bit over the last few days. The "aahs" and "oohs" that fill the song have always sounded kinda hot to me. I assumed Christine McVie was making those noises; Stevie Nicks maybe. Today I learned it's neither. It's Lindsey Buckingham using synthesizers to distort his voice. Bummer.

It's like the musical equivalent to learning a male stand-in did all of Jennifer Beals' moves in "Flashdance."

I like Lyndsey Buckingham. He's an extremely talented guitar player, but he tends to overproduce at times.

Perhaps.

It wasn't until recently I discovered that he's behind the "Holiday Road" song used in the "Vacation" flicks.

I really dig the guitar outro he plays near the end of "Hold Me."

In "Walk on the Wild Side", that line:

And the colored girls go
"Doo do doo do doo do do doo..."

Then the girls start singing? Turns out, those were white girls.

He also did the song at the end during the credits.

When?

He's as talented in songcraft as anyone who has ever lived.

To his credit, Buckingham had to do a lot on that album to get it to fruition. Stevie wasn't around for most of it; Mick lived in an RV parked in the yard. Lindsey was exhausted when it was all done and decided to leave the band before they embarked on a tour in support of Tango

I thought she said he basically took 3-4 second clips between drunken slurs she recorded in his bedroom and built her songs from the ground up.

I love some of that weird pop on Mirage - "Empire State", "Eyes of the World", etc. And of course "Hold Me" is a classic.

No album ever recorded was given away freely on the streets, to my knowledge. Kurt Cobain and Tom Morello both made millions from their music.
