Finally got my new guitar

The shop I bought it from had to display it at IBMA and then I was out of town for work but I was finally able to get it.
It's an Atkin D37, basically their version of a prewar D28 (37 stands for 1937). Atkin is a British boutique builder who has been around since the mid 90's. I played their White Rice model (a replica of the "Antique," the world famous D28 that belonged to Clarence White and then Tony Rice) a few years ago and had wanted an Atkin since then.
I recently sold several guitars that I wasn't connecting with and purchased this one.
I'm a huge fan of their Aged Finish, described by Atkin as:
The thin finish really seems to allow the guitar to be very open, resonant, and loud. It's also a bit duller than a new, shiny, gloss finish which I like.
It's very balanced compared to most rosewood guitars and super bassy and loud, great for bluegrass. It blows any Martin I've ever owned, away.

Aged Finish
We started to develop our aged finish in 2010. It was the result of an accident with one of our Buddy Holly J45s. The guitar got a bad scratch during the build so we thought let’s age it to look like Buddy’s original guitar.
That guitar sold instantly so we built some more. We realised we were onto something when the Martin Custom shop bought one of our White Rice models. Although we started out making heavier relic versions, we soon realised most people like their guitar to look a little cleaner. So now we make our aged finishes look like a guitar that has been looked after since day one. Think of it like your Grandfathers prized possession. Each aged guitar has 8 coats of Nitro and yellowing tints. We freeze all of our aged finishes to help the check. The result being a super thin finish with grain sinkage. This is now the choice finish for 70% of our customers.

Love the herringbone

They kind of yellowed the herringbone to make it look old and it looks great.
