Im usually not into really hard rock but was listening to some of their stuff on youtube. They have some pretty good face melters beyond their two big hits. Anyone got some other 90s era lesser known stuff they like?

Saw them at the Varsity about 7 years ago. Richard Patrick was obviously off his meds and would not shut up about war and politics between songs. Not many people there either...and that sort of pissed him off I think.
To your request, bands that are in the mold of Filter somewhat:
Econoline Crush (check out their first two albums)
God Lives Underwater
Failure
Hum
Stabbing Westward
Orgy

I think Richard wrote, recorded and etc "Nice Shot" all by himself? He brought a lot to early Nine Inch Nails.
His brother was cool too, was a great T-1000

That’s who I always associate Filter with.

Hes also the younger brother of David Patrick of the Terminator.
Edit...sorry...you posted that pic and I thought that WAS Richard.
Patrick was very influential on PHM and Broken.

Stars was one of the few songs I heard in my life that I instantly loved. I heard it in Omaha, NE in early June of 95. And back then there was no Shazam or easy internet. The veejay said, so I thought, "That was Stars by THUMB." I went to the mall the next afternoon looking for THUMB.
If you like Stars, check "I'd like Yiur Hair Long" and "Comin Home" and "Shovel " and each are on different albums by them.

I was at this show too. There were maybe 35 people there and it looked like about half of them were from one of the radio stations. It was pretty sad considering the big hits they've had.
The time I saw them before that had Local H and Helmet opening and they both blew Filter out of the water.

Don’t forget “The Pod”.

The good thing about that night was I discovered Red Line Chemistry (who were absurdly loud). Yeah, not a good night inside Varsity. Makes you think how a band who had 2 SMASH hits cannot draw a tenth of shows like eyehategod, Clutch, and Lucero do when it comes to the Varsity.

I recently watched a documentary about side men or hired guns and he was one of the guy's featured. His story goes that he was with NIN but wasn't really making anything. I think it may have been around 250 bucks a week at most. One day NIN's manager came to him because he had heard he was wanting to make a little more each week. So here he is thinking he's about to be offered a raise, but instead he let's him know Pizza Hut is hiring part time delivery drivers if he wanted to make some extra cash. Needless to say, he quits NIN and forms filter, a band that is also notorious for not paying musicians shite.

Army of Anyone not making more music as a crying shame. One of the most criminally appreciated albums. That album was better than anything STP did after Purple. They never should have gotten back with Weiland.
