Has O Brother Where Art Thou been named yet? Forrest Gump has a good soundtrack as well.

Local Hero anyone? Completely composed by Mark Knopfler of the Dire Straits

Also the Walk the Line soundtrack, but that's just because I love Johnny Cash.



I've gotta check out the Goodfellas soundtrack-looks badass


eta: The Big Lebowski had a good soundtrack IIRC. Sorry if these have been mentioned already, haven't read the thread yet.

Its kind of cheating but the "Across the Universe" is an obvious one. Those are solid Beatle covers
