We finally bought our son a set from Ray Fransen. Tama imperial star i believe. The drum heads after almost 2 months look terrible. Buckled and dented. I'm sure the set came with cheaper heads so can y'all recommend something to replace?
What about sticks? He goes thru sticks in 2-3 days. Carbon fiber lasted the longest.

Remo clear emperor drumheads are what I use and each head will have a different tone to them. Over time your son will find what he likes the best if he sticks with it.
Sticks I use Vater wood tip 5A’s but again over time he will determine what he likes. If he’s go through sticks that quick it’s probably just because he’s new to a drum set and is still learning where to properly hit the drum and how hard. I’d recommend the drumstick packs that come in a brick of 12 pairs. Do your research as some of the cheaper brands make excellent products.
Congrats on the future rocker!!!!!!

Remo Ambassador (coated)
Remo Pinstripe (clear)
Both of these come in packs through Sweetwater or whichever music website you choose to shop through. Watch some YouTube videos for advice on how to properly stretch and tune the heads.
Sticks are all based on preference regarding size and weight. I recently switched from the Vater Gospel Series GS-Fusion to the Vic Firth American Classic 5A. Bundle packs will save you a good bit of money in the long run.

If his cymbals are flat you might want to angle them more. Probably slicing up the sticks on the cymbals.

Sometimes drums are at too much of an angle. Depending on how hard he hits, that will ruin any drumheads no matter the quality.

Yea, he's a hard hitter and I agree with other poster, his cymbals need to be angled more.

Your budding drummer will also benefit from lessons. Not learning proper posture and sticking techniques had a detrimental impact on my drumming for years, forcing me to waste time unlearning bad habits. Proper technique will increase the shelf life of drumheads, cymbals and sticks.

Agreed 1000%. Proper technique helps so damn much. I used to absolutely shred through heads. Sat down with someone who knew what they were doing and learned a bit. It helped so much.

My 3 favorite brands of sticks are Vater, Vic Firth and Pro-Mark and I don't even own a kit.
