Drake Concert Smoothie King Center - 6/16/23

Any tips for a first time visitor of The Blender going to the Drake concert? Just looking for any precautions or considerations I should take into account. I'm worried that even with ticket prices starting at $200, the concert will still be kind of ghetto. So I may just take an Uber to and from the arena.

Saw him in 2016 on the tour with Future at the Blender, I don't remember it being too different from a regular pop concert. It's Drake, not Boosie. Take your usual precautions when existing in New Orleans and you'll be fine. We parked in the Dome parking garage.

I was always intrigued at the notion of someone attending a "concert" of a rap/hip hop performer.
What happens at these shows? I mean, is the crowd actually applauding and cheering for the act?
...and if so, why?

You're asking if the crowd cheers for an act they pay to see and why. I mean does that need an explanation?
Most times there's live instrumentation too.

Only when they tell you to. Same for when they tell you to “get up” and “wave your motherfrickin hands from side to side”

That's kind of how I envisioned it.
Several years ago one of my younger relatives paid money to attend a rap/hip hop show, I think it was Lil Wayne and she had the same impression afterwards. The crowd was essentially cheering for a guy ryming over a pre recorded track.

Went to the Drake/Migos concert a few years ago (think it was in 2018), and I thought it was fine. The audience wasn't ghetto at all, and getting in and out wasn't any worse than any other concert/Pelicans game I've been to.

Jay Z & the Roots is still one of, if not the best show I've ever seen. I've also been to rap concerts with DJ style music, so I can see what/why you are asking this.
As for the OP's question. I would be more concerned walking to and from the show, rather than worrying about inside the SKC.

Ove only been to 90s and early 2000's "pop" hip-hop shows (Doug E. Fresh, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Nelly. etc). I'm not a hip hop listener other than hearing on the radio. The shows were a blast.
I've never attended a "harder" rap show, and my wife says it can get unpleasant at the venue she works at. But no different than new rock shows like Buzzfest. Young kids who listen to shitty music tend to have poor behavior. Who woulda thunk it.
