Its pretty simple, I enjoy listening to their music.

I'm not here saying they are the best band, or even great. I just enjoy their music.

What other reason could a person possibly have?

Exactly this. They're not game changers in any way, shape, or form. Just have some pretty good stuff.

You say that, but I bet you're a big rap music fan.

The point being, actual quality lyrics in poular music is quite rare. I don't find these lyrics any more trite than the majority of what's out there.

In many cases, it's simply post-modern to call something trite because it's not sardonic and self-aware.

They've written some songs with trite lyrics, but they've also written some pretty good songs as well.

Wrong.

Well, technically right, Jerry is dead (18 years tomorrow )

i love his music, but these days Dylan does not belong on the same stage as Dylan. Offensively bad (saw him in June).

Or are they cool for hipsters to hate b/c they're popular now?

that's true. i've just honestly never liked them, despite liking the genre they try to participate in i guess. their banjo and vocals are overcooked. i also don't like this "marchy" beat trend M/S follows. like that crap by Of Monsters and Men. Are you guys going off to war in your skinny jeans and beanie?

ETA: sorry, i've screwed this all up. didn't mean to repost.

I loved that introspective M&S song with sharp chord strumming intertwined with solemn pauses and then there's a banjo climax. That's a nice tune.

This was pointed out in the comments and deserves to be repeated: the guy who wrote this article states that Self-Portrait is Bob Dylan's best album.

Your obsessive, irrational hate of M&S really pisses me off. Like I want to fight you.

I get that music is subjective for the most part but these guys:

1. All 4 play actual musical instruments, and do it well.

2. Have quality, thoughtful lyrics, which they have written themselves.

3. Are by all accounts likable dudes.

The rest of the ridiculous crap you posted in this thread and in about a dozen others previously....damn it, where you wanna meet? I'm pissed off!

You don't sound like a Mumford fan with all of that hostility. Although maybe you just listened to a banjo crescendo that got your adrenaline pumping.

The Cave and Little Lion Man are better than EVERYTHING I'm subjected to when my wife turns on Hits 1, The Pulse, 20/20 etc.
