I don't think so. What's your favorite by King George?

Yes. His cover of Rodney Crowell's "Stars on the Water" (2001's The Road Less Traveled) is an autotuned mess of a song.

Favorite is either I Can Still Make Cheyenne (1996's Blue Clear Sky), Texas (2005's Somewhere Down in Texas), or Baby Your Baby (Pure Country).

My favorite is I Cross My Heart, for sentimental reasons.

No but I dislike “ write this down”. My favorites are honkytonk downstairs, marina del Rey, Friday night fever, sure got this red neck feeling blue, and wonderland of love.

The answer is no. I even like his cover of Fly Me to the Moon.

I certainly like George Strait but Dean Dillon deserves a lot of credit for writing most of the hits.

I went back this morning and listened to it. It's not as bad as I remember it, but there is still the autotune modulation on the phrase "stars on the water" in each chorus and a few other words/phrases in the verses; it reminds me of what Cher did on her song Believe.

I don't understand why they would do this on a GS song. It is super distracting on an otherwise fairly well done song.

I've loved the song since I heard the Jimmy Buffett version from One Particular Harbor. Crowell to me perfectly captured the feel of the northern gulf coast.

I used to have basically every cd up until like 2002, wish I could find those. He was the first artist as a kid that I would get an album looking for one song and end up loving the entire album. Not too many bad ones: baby blue, I can still make Cheyenne, Amarillo by morning obviously, the chair, the cowboy rides away, ocean front property, blame it on Mexico, hell even the whole True Country Movie Soundtrack lol and the list goes on and on. I think they have released albums of his like top 50 billboard number 1s or something crazy like that. Pretty insane, and he's never been very open in the public eye which is unique for an artist of that caliber (except when he punched the guy from Friday Night Lights for impersonating him on stage).

ETA: Run, Adadlida, Does Ft. Worth Ever Cross your Mind, even the cheesy Honk if you Honkytonk stuff is better than basically any new country music right now.

Yes, most of the stuff in his later years is garbage. And a lot of the deep tracks on his early albums aren't very good either.

Nobody In His Right Mind is my favorite Strait song. Marina Del Ray a close second.

I don’t really care for his 2000’s stuff. I don’t even know many of those.
My favorite George song is Fool Hearted Memory

I’ve always felt like the Pure Country album was like a shift in his sound. While I like that album, I prefer the George Strait before it.

I love George Strait but he has a few terrible singles.

I just wanna dance with you
We really shouldn't be doing this

Come to mind right away.

BUT

I like his older stuff as well but Troubadour has to be one of my favorites by him and it is newer..

I like the 2000s stuff and the more recent stuff that I have heard, but it definitely does not measure up to the old stuff (that was "Solid Country Gold"). But like I said those old albums were like hit after hit after hit.

One year when I was real little Santa brought me tickets to see him in Bossier City when he used to do the big national stadium type tour every year. It was really good, I have always thought he is one of the few people who's songs sound very similar to the recording when live. Whereas, alot of people make a point to change key, or just change their lyric tone and style up on a whim based off of how they are feeling at the time (Waylon, Merle, Van, the Stones, and those types). Then again he has a huge band behind him live usually and I am pretty sure that iconic Guild guitar might be a stage prop to a degree, not sure if he plays for any of the recorded tracks or not. Maybe people will disagree though just how I remember the show being.
