I consider her an entertainer, not a musician.

not really... unless you consider one's voice a musical instrument.

Yeah, I don't consider a voice an musical instrument. Neither does anyone else with any musical training.

I don't have any kind of musical training. I just always thought musicians play music ....with instruments.

Real trained singers are definitely musicians. Listen to some Sarah Vaughan improv (jazz) or any opera and you will hear the difference. The voice can be as much an instrument as a saxophone or flute.

This is not, however, the case with Britney.

She is a complete shite singer, and has no idea how to use her voice musically.

She got famous because she was hot, and purred seductively in a plaid skirt school girl outfit and red spandex. There is nothing wrong with that, and I aint hatin homegirl. She has had some very catchy songs that are fun to listen to (not that she wrote them).

But lets not mistake an image driven sex star for a great artist or musician.

she is a performer/entertainer/dancer, but I do not consider her a musician.

actually, she has co-written a few of her songs and there may be one or two she wrote entirely on her own.

That's a figure of speech though. Your voice is not a musical instrument in the strict definition.

Nailed it. Vocalists can be as much of a musician as the guy plunking the bass.

If you are looking at strict definitions, she would be a musician.
