My great uncle was a DJ back in the 40’s, and I ended up with three big boxes of 78 records from the radio station. It’s been several years since I went through them, but I can remember only recognizing about a fourth of the artists. There were also several with train, plane, and ship sounds. Condition varied greatly.

Not really. Maybe some country/western disks from the early days may have value to someone out there, but very few have the means of actually playing a 78rpm (10”) disk. It requires a special cartridge and stylus to handle the rough shellac grooves, and a table that has 78rpm as a speed option.

I think it really depends on the artist and title.

Some are highly sought after and valuable but most aren't.

They may not have much monetary value but are very collectable to others (not many others lol).

Linked below is an article about a fellow who inherited a ton of 78s. The writer says the old blues records are among the most valuable.

I remember reading an article years ago about two aging men who had houses full of 78s and were trying to find someone to leave them to. There may be a few gems among them, but it takes a ton of work and research to find the needle in the haystack.

Alabama man inherits massive 78 RPM record collection: Is it valuable?

Here is a NY Times article that talks more about the rare Delta blues records and values.
