It’s funny because my girlfriend and I were going to NOLA for the day, and she got pissed at me because I was mesmerized by U2’s performance and wouldn’t move. I kept thinking Bono was stoned.
I only saw part of Queen, I’m not even sure where I was or when, but I also remember McCartney at the end. U2 was the big standout that I managed to catch in their entirety, and the rest of it was in bits and pieces. That was when I really became a U2 fan. My respect for Queen shot up, too, when I saw Freddie controlling the crowd. What a day!

I remember seeing it on TV and thinking it was the best performance of Live Aid, without dispute.
On the radio simulcast, someone said when they aired the Queen performance on JFK's big screen (presumably between acts), the crowd responded as if the band was performing there in person, they were that into it...

Was playing music at some hotel in BR for the week. Watched most of it from the club we were working.
It's hardly worthy of any accolades beyond being a benefit for a great cause. The 9/11 benefit in New York was much better musically speaking.
LIve Aid was mostly about the hot bands of the day........of which many sucked live. Poor Simon Lebon of Duran Duran sang every song out of key.
Queen was great. I also enjoyed when Tina Turner came out and joined Brian Adams on "It's Only Love" The Cars sounded decent as well. Phil Collins flying on the Concorde in order to snub Jason Bonham from playing with Page and Plant was a wonderful example of what as a-hole truly is.

I saw Queen in Baton Rouge, I think in 1979. Great show. I saw the Live Aid Performance on television and don’t remember it as this world- altering performance it is now remembered as. There were so many acts that day it was just one after another after another.

Heard an interview with Phil Collins and he said Plant and Page were not happy with him at all. Looked like they wanted to beat his arse after the set. Part of it was the whole Concorde thing and they kind of felt he was upstaging everyone, and then he comes in and plays like crap.
Zeppelin sounded horrible to begin with.
Queen and Tom Petty had the best performances that day. The Cars were also pretty solid.
I think the Who lost their sound, didn't they?

I have seen the Zepplin set on YouTube and it was pretty disappointing. They just were not in sync at all. The Atlantic records show they did a couple years later wasn't much better.
They did do a much better job when they did the one off show in 2007, that show was pretty tight especially considering they were getting pretty long in the tooth by then.
