Haha, do I have plans to marry Ev? I love him but he's a huge pain in the arse. He also dated my best friend. You probably hung out with some other friends of mine...their whole management team was there and are my buddies...initials C, M, P and A. Ring a bell?

Also, DRB and Ray Wylie wrote a bad-arse song together for the new album so hopefully RWH will join them on stage for that one. If I can find a link with decent audio I will post it.

I didn't bother with names. Someone with AA took a pic from overhead (check my FB). Evan's Mom is directly behind CWK, sis is behind me.
Tall girl and a slightly plump dark haired girl (not in the pic) took several photos with me (actually not with me, but with the back of my shirt "half a day off with pay")
I offered a tour of Jackson Sq after the show, but Mom wanted tour the next day. I had Hogs for Cause the next day, so that was a no go.

did you come upstairs during TT?

I wonder if I knew those girls or if they were just random fans. I'm guessing my friends were in some sort of VIP area but they like to watch the show from the front sometimes too, so who knows.
I will be at the TT show at Stubb's on Friday so I will ask around and see if anyone remembers your shirt

No. After AA I looked up and CWK and Doc were gone .. and I had made a few friends around me, so all was good. CWK and Doc tend to slow me down ..

Can radio personalities do (anything) out of the goodness of their heart if they like your event
No for three reasons: 1) radio is a money-grubbing business, where everything is for sale and everything the DJs say is planned in advance, 2) stations have be careful of the appearance of payola, and 3) see #1.
While KDRP is a somewhat different animal, due to its low-power nature, for them or any station I would still go through a program or promotions director just to make sure they all get given away properly and not handed out to friends or other advertisers (it happens).
Don't mean to paint a bleak picture, just want to make sure you succeed. Wildly. In a great town.

Thanks for the heads up DoctorTechnical. And I sincerely appreciate the kind words. We're really hoping for a stellar turnout. I'm thinking you should make it to Austin for the night

Thought I would share our newest poster with y'all. We added in sponsors and Possessed by Paul James...I think it's pretty sweet. Can't believe this happening so soon!
Oh, and L Boogie...super excited you're coming for the fest!!! Just a heads up to you and your friends...tickets are getting raised to $25 on Thursday, 4/10. Can't wait to say hi!

I MAY have to work Lone Star Jam that day...it's a lot of money so I can't really turn it down if they ask...but I may try to just work it on Sunday so I can still go to the Derby party. I am really looking forward to it so I hope it works out!

Boogie!!! Say it ain't so!!! You better make it out!
In all seriousness, hope it works out and you come out for the day.
Would be great to drink a mint julep with you.

Well, Deer Tick unfortunately had to cancel but they have been replaced by White Denim, which is a GREAT grab, especially on such short notice . Should still be an awesome afternoon. I wish I could go

White Denim is the jam. Much better than all the other crap on the lineup.

Have you even heard any of the other acts? Milkdrive is a great bluegrass band and Possessed by Paul James is awesome, too.
I get that you're not into country, but the only band on the lineup now that I would even consider country is Ray Wylie.

Would you agree White Denim is the best current Austin-based band?
Posted on 5/1/14 at 2:52 pm to HeadyBrosevelt
They're good.
But this town is home to Patti Griffin, Robert Plant and Billy Gibbons, to name a few. Okay, ZZ Top isn't current, but Patti and Robert play as Patti Griffin an her Driver all the time.
I like them. But they've got some competition.
